The Jewelry Making technique called openwork has been widely used in Florence since the Renaissance. It’s one of those traditional techniques that can only be properly taught here.
In the Jewelry Design course, students are introduced to the graphical representation of jewels and gemstones, learning how to blend aesthetics with functionality.
Starting from hand-sketching techniques, they will later develop personal projects using professional design software, exploring their own aesthetic sense and creativity.
The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including light refraction, color theory, technical and perspective drawing, and gemology.
Instructors:
The Jewelry Making instructor at Accademia Riaci is a renowned goldsmith and winner of the “Millennium Anniversary Bill” design competition for the 50,000 Lira banknote — Italy’s former currency before the Euro.
Our Jewelry Design instructor graduated from the “Accademia di Costume e Moda” (Academy of Costume and Fashion) in Rome. She has extensive experience as a 3D designer and jewelry design freelancer, managing the entire production process from prototype to final product.
